Napoleon had many successes as a ruler over France. His reign began in 1804, and shortly after, he began to control all of France as a tyrant. His hypocrisy when it came to law is proof that he is a tyrant. An example of his double standers would be his secret police that could arrest anyone without reason, despite that being against the law to be arrested without reason. The civil code put in place during his reign included many freedoms, but at the same time it included restrictions that revoked rights that were created during the French Revolution. Napoleon was also a nepotist. He allowed his brothers to become rulers of different countries that France took control over, despite their lack of political or military skill.
